Turn diagram languages on or off

Every language is available by default except TikZ. Most sites will never use two thirds of them, and a shorter picker is a kinder picker.

Turning a language off removes it from the picker for new diagrams. It does not affect diagrams already drawn in it.

#When you would change this

  • Standardising on a handful of languages across a site.

  • Reducing choice for a large, non-technical user base.

  • Turning something on that is off, TikZ being the usual case.

#What you can set

Setting

What it does

Language toggles

One switch per language, in the site settings.

Presets

Minimal, Standard and Complete set the whole list in one click.

Effect on the picker

Disabled languages disappear from the editor picker.

Effect on existing diagrams

None. They still render and still open.

#A few things that catch people out

  • Rendering is never gated by these toggles. An existing diagram in a disabled language keeps working.

  • Writing the toggle list writes the full list, so two admins editing at once can overwrite each other.

  • If a language is missing from the picker, this is almost always why. See Troubleshooting.

Set it once, in the right place.
