Import a Visio file into Confluence
To import a Visio file into Confluence, insert a Capable diagram, choose Visio import in the library picker and pick your .vsdx file. Capable converts it and opens it in the draw.io editor, so shapes, connectors and text stay editable rather than becoming a flat picture. Check the result, then save it to the page.
#Before you start
The file is a .vsdx (or a .vssx stencil). Older Visio formats such as .vsd must be re-saved as .vsdx in Visio first.
draw.io is turned on for your site. Visio import is switched off whenever draw.io is, because the import lands in the draw.io editor.
You can edit the page.
#Steps
Edit the page, type
/diagramand choose Diagram (Capable). In the library picker, choose Visio import. It is under Whiteboard and visual.
Pick your .vsdx file.
Wait for the conversion. The diagram opens in the draw.io editor.
Check the result and fix anything that did not come across.
Give the diagram a title, select Save, then publish the page.
Already attached the .vsdx to the page? Insert Diagram (Capable), select Import under Create and pick the file under Page attachments.
#What happens next
The diagram is an ordinary draw.io diagram from now on. Edit it like any other, and it versions, exports and takes comments the same way.
#If it does not work
Visio import is missing from the picker: draw.io has been turned off by your administrator.
Custom or licensed stencils can arrive as plain shapes. Check before you delete the original file.
A very large file takes a while to convert. It is not stuck.
#Related
It arrives as a diagram, not a picture of one.
