Find a diagram template in Confluence

To find a diagram template in Confluence, select Capable in the page byline and type what you need in Search capabilities. Your space and global templates are listed first under Templates, then the built-in ones. Pick one and the editor opens with a copy, ready to insert. You can also browse templates in the Capable Diagrams catalogue.

#Before you start

  • You can edit the page you want the diagram on.

  • Templates in a language your administrator has turned off are not offered.

#Steps

  1. Open the page where the diagram should go.

  2. Select Capable in the byline under the page title.

  3. In Search capabilities, type a word from the template's name or description, or a language or subject such as sequence or aws. Every word you add narrows the list.

  4. Pick a template under Templates.

  5. Make any changes in the editor and select Insert.

#What happens next

A copy of the template is added to the page as a new diagram. The template itself is not changed, and later edits to the template do not reach your copy.

To browse instead of search, open the Capable Diagrams catalogue and look under Templates (Space templates and Global templates) or Examples.

#If it does not work

  • A template created in the last few minutes may not be found yet. See Template indexing delay.

  • Cannot insert diagram on restricted page means the app cannot write to this page from the byline. Edit the page and insert with /diagram instead.

  • A space template only shows in its own space. Ask for it to be saved as a global template if every space needs it.
