Add comments to a diagram in Confluence

To add a comment to a Capable diagram in Confluence, open the diagram full screen with Maximize, select the Comments button next to the download and share buttons, type your comment and select Comment. Comments are real Confluence comments, so anyone you @mention is notified as usual.

#Before you start

  • You need to be able to edit the diagram, which normally means edit permission on the page it is on. Anyone who can view it can read comments.

  • The diagram must be saved. Built-in examples and unsaved drafts have no Comments button.

#Steps

  1. Open the page and hover over the diagram.

  2. Select Maximize. If the diagram already has comments, you can select the yellow comment count instead, which opens straight onto them.

  3. Select Comments. The comments sidebar opens on the right.

  4. Type your comment in the box that says Comment on this diagram…. Type @ to mention someone or / to link a page.

  5. Select Comment, or press Cmd+Enter on a Mac or Ctrl+Enter on Windows.

#What happens next

  • Your comment appears at the bottom of the list, and the Comments button turns yellow with the count.

  • Back on the page, the count shows as the first button in the diagram's toolbar once you close the full-screen view.

  • People you mentioned get a Confluence notification.

  • To change your comment later, select Edit comment on it, make the change and select Save.
