Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most, each with a short answer and a link to the page that covers it properly.
#Comments
#Who can comment on a diagram?
Anyone who can view a diagram can read its comments, but only people who can edit the diagram can add one. Everyone else sees Only people who can edit this diagram can comment. See Comments on diagrams.
#Do people I @mention in a diagram comment get notified?
Yes. Diagram comments are real Confluence comments, so a mention picked from the list sends Confluence's usual notification. A name typed without picking it stays plain text. See Mention someone in a diagram comment.
#Why can I not edit one of my comments?
Capable only offers Edit comment when saving would keep the comment exactly as written. Comments with lists, tables, literal formatting characters, or two mentioned people with the same name stay read-only so nothing changes by accident.
#Can I delete a diagram comment?
Not from the comments sidebar. You can edit your own comments, but there is no delete option there.
#Collections, templates and reuse
#Does adding a diagram to a collection change the diagram?
No. The diagram stays on its page and no new version is created. Removing it, or deleting the collection, leaves the diagram untouched. See Diagram collections.
#Can one diagram be in more than one collection?
Yes, in up to 32 collections, across space and global collections.
#Why is a diagram I just added missing from my collection?
After a reload, a new member can take a few minutes to appear while Confluence's search index catches up. The diagram's Details panel always shows its collections straight away. See Collection membership delay.
#Where do I find diagram templates?
Select Capable in the page byline and search in Search capabilities, or browse Templates in the Capable Diagrams catalogue. See Find a diagram template in Confluence.
#Can I show the same diagram on more than one page?
Yes. Insert Diagram reference (Capable) and pick the original diagram. Every page shows the current version when the original changes. See Show the same diagram on several Confluence pages.
#Languages, AI and migration
#Why is a diagram language missing from the picker?
Your administrator has probably turned it off under Available diagram libraries. TikZ is off by default. Diagrams already drawn in a disabled language keep rendering. See Disable a diagram language in Confluence.
#How do I turn off AI in Capable Diagrams?
A Confluence administrator switches off AI integrations on the Features tab of the app's settings. It applies to every user. See Turn off AI diagramming in Confluence.
#Can I move from draw.io for Confluence without redrawing?
Yes. The migration wizard converts draw.io macros into Capable diagrams. Run Perform verification first; every changed page can be restored from its history. See Migrate from draw.io to Capable Diagrams in Confluence.
#Can I migrate Mermaid or PlantUML macros from another app?
Yes. The migration assistant converts Stratus Mermaid and PlantUML macros, Avono PlantUML macros and the Just Add+ Diagram macro into Capable diagrams. viadee BPMN and DMN diagrams come across one at a time with Import. See Migrating to Capable Diagrams.
#Troubleshooting
#Why is my diagram blank or not loading?
Reload the page once. If the editor shows the same error, the source has a syntax problem. Very large diagrams can hit render limits, TikZ is off until an administrator turns it on, and readers who cannot see a referenced diagram's source page see nothing. See Diagram does not render.
#Why is an icon blank in my D2 diagram?
The icon's web address could not be reached when the diagram was drawn. The diagram still renders and leaves that icon blank. Host the icon somewhere public, or use a built-in shape. See Domains we connect to.
