Show the same calendar on several Confluence pages

To show the same calendar on several Confluence pages, insert the Calendar (Capable) macro on each page and set its Source to the same saved calendar. The events live in the calendar, not the page, so an event added in one place appears on every page straight away. Each macro keeps its own view and look.

#Before you start

  • You need a saved calendar. Calendars built only from one page's dates cannot be shared this way.

  • You need edit rights on each page you add the macro to.

  • For a calendar used across many spaces, create it under Global calendars rather than in one space.

#Steps

  1. Edit the first page, type /calendar and choose Calendar (Capable), or Calendar macro (Capable) in the standalone app.

  2. On the Content tab, open Source and choose the saved calendar.

  3. Turn on Event editing if readers of this page should add and change events.

  4. Choose the View, Start on, Colours and Height for this page, then publish.

  5. Do the same on every other page, choosing the same Source.

#A few things that catch people out

  • Readers only see the saved events if they can view the calendar itself, which follows the space it is saved in. Signed-out visitors see only the dates written on the page.

  • Leaving Source empty shows that page's own dates instead. It is the right choice for a project page, not for a shared calendar.

  • Turning Event editing on for one page does not turn it on for the others.

One calendar, every page that needs it.
