Show page dates on a Confluence calendar

To show page dates on a Confluence calendar, write them as Confluence date chips, or Capable Event macros, in the paragraph or table row that describes them, then insert the Calendar (Capable) macro with Source left unset. Each paragraph or row becomes one event, titled from its text, with any @-mentioned people as participants.

#Before you start

  • You need permission to edit the page.

  • Plain typed dates such as 3 March are not picked up. Use a Confluence date chip or an Event macro.

#Steps

  1. Open the page in the editor and write a line for each event, such as a sentence, a table row, an action item or a decision.

  2. In that line, type // to insert a Confluence date, or insert Event (Capable) for an event with times and an owner.

  3. @-mention anyone involved in the same paragraph or row.

  4. Insert Calendar (Capable) where the calendar should appear, and leave Source unset.

  5. Under Event types, keep Confluence Date macros and Capable Event macros selected, or select none to show everything.

  6. Publish the page.

#If it does not work

  • A date never appears. A date chip on a line by itself has no text to become a title, so it is skipped. Put words in the same paragraph.

  • Several dates became one event. All dates in one paragraph or row make a single event from the earliest to the latest. Split them into separate lines.

  • A date should not be on the calendar. Open the macro and click it under Hidden on-page events.

Write the plan once. The calendar follows.
