Most settings belong to an individual calendar. Open them from the gear beside the overflow menu on whichever calendar is on screen. A handful are site-wide and need a Confluence administrator, and a few are set per space or per person.

Settings changes can take a minute to reach other people, so give one a moment before concluding it did nothing.
