Fix the wrong time zone on a Confluence calendar

Capable Calendar shows every event in the viewer's own time zone, so colleagues in other countries see different clock times for the same moment. If a time looks wrong to you, check your Atlassian account's time zone, then open the event and check the time zone it was created in. A calendar's Base Timezone only pre-fills new events.

#Before you start

  • You need edit rights on the calendar to change an event's time zone.

#Steps

  1. Make sure the time zone in your Atlassian account settings is where you are. The calendar uses it, or your browser's if none is set.

  2. Click the event. Its Schedule tab shows the time in Your timezone, the Event timezone and the Calendar timezone.

  3. Select Edit, search for the right zone in the time zone field, check the times and select Save Changes.

  4. Open the calendar and select Configure calendar (the cog) at the top right. You see it only if you can edit the calendar. On the General tab, choose the Base Timezone and select Save.

#A few things that catch people out

  • All-day events stay on the same date for everyone. Only timed events move with the viewer's time zone.

  • On a published Capable Site, the Event macro shows UTC. See Event macro shows UTC on a published site.

  • Subscribed calendar apps convert times to the phone's or computer's own zone, and usually update within 5 to 15 minutes of a change.

Same moment, everyone's own clock.
