Fix a page or image missing from a published Confluence site

When a page or image is missing from a site published with Capable Sites, check four things in order: that you promoted after your last Update, that the page is a current page in a published space, that it has no exclude label, and what the deploy log says. Most gaps come from a missed Promote or an exclude label.

#Before you start

You need

Why

A Confluence admin, or a collaborator on the site

You need to run Update and Promote and read the deploy log.

The page's title and space

So you can find it in the Confluence page tree and in the log.

#Steps

  1. Open the site's Preview. If the page is there, run Promote and Promote to production from the Overview. If not, select Update first.

  2. In Settings, open Spaces & URLs and check the page's space is listed.

  3. Make sure it is a current page. Drafts, archived pages, blog posts, whiteboards and databases are never published.

  4. Look for capable-sites-exclude or scroll-help-center-exclude-page on the page. Remove it to publish the page.

  5. Open the site's Logs, select the latest deploy, and look for Failed to convert page, Failed to fetch space pages or Skipped.

  6. On the site's Overview, select Update. Check the staging preview, then select Promote and Promote to production.

#Images and attachments that show "Attachment not available"

Sites leaves out a file larger than 20 MB, a file type it cannot publish, or anything that would take the site past its 1 GB storage limit. The rest of the site still publishes, and the log marks each file as Skipped. Make the file smaller, convert it, or remove files you no longer need, then Update and Promote. See Site published fine but some attachments are missing.

#A few things that catch people out

Check the Promote, the label, then the log.
