Apex domain (example.com) will not work
What you are seeing
You want your site on your apex domain, the bare domain with nothing in front of it, such as example.com. It will not work.
#Why it happens
Capable Sites asks you to point your domain at your site with a CNAME record. Most DNS providers cannot create a CNAME record at the apex (the root of the domain), so there is no way to add the record it needs.
#What to do
You have two options:
Use a subdomain. Something like docs.example.com takes a CNAME record without any fuss.
Use an ALIAS or ANAME record. If your DNS provider offers one of these record types, use it at the apex in place of the CNAME record.
