# Fix a page or image missing from a published Confluence site When a page or image is missing from a site published with Capable Sites, check four things in order: that you promoted after your last Update, that the page is a current page in a published space, that it has no exclude label, and what the deploy log says. Most gaps come from a missed Promote or an exclude label. --- ## Before you start | **You need** | **Why** | | ------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- | | A Confluence admin, or a collaborator on the site | You need to run Update and Promote and read the deploy log. | | The page's title and space | So you can find it in the Confluence page tree and in the log. | --- ## Steps 1. Open the site's **Preview**. If the page is there, run **Promote** and **Promote to production** from the **Overview**. If not, select **Update** first. 2. In **Settings**, open **Spaces & URLs** and check the page's space is listed. 3. Make sure it is a current page. Drafts, archived pages, blog posts, whiteboards and databases are never published. 4. Look for `capable-sites-exclude` or `scroll-help-center-exclude-page` on the page. Remove it to publish the page. 5. Open the site's **Logs**, select the latest deploy, and look for **Failed to convert page**, **Failed to fetch space pages** or **Skipped**. 6. On the site's **Overview**, select **Update**. Check the staging preview, then select **Promote** and **Promote to production**. --- ## Images and attachments that show "Attachment not available" Sites leaves out a file larger than 20 MB, a file type it cannot publish, or anything that would take the site past its 1 GB storage limit. The rest of the site still publishes, and the log marks each file as **Skipped**. Make the file smaller, convert it, or remove files you no longer need, then Update and Promote. See [Site published fine but some attachments are missing](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/site-published-fine-but-some-attachments-are-missing-showing-attachment-not-available.html). --- ## A few things that catch people out * The exclude label works page by page. A child of an excluded page is still published, and moves to the top level of the sidebar. * Confluence page restrictions do not hide a page from the site. Only the exclude labels do. * A macro that cannot publish shows as a note or a grey box rather than leaving the page out. See [Macro shows as a grey box quoting a strange name on the live page](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/macro-shows-as-a-grey-box-quoting-a-strange-name-on-the-live-page.html). * A page deleted in Confluence stays live until you Update and Promote. See [Deleted a page in Confluence and it is still on the live site](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/deleted-a-page-in-confluence-and-it-is-still-on-the-live-site.html). --- ## Related ### [Whole page or space is missing from the published site with no error](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/whole-page-or-space-is-missing-from-the-published-site-with-no-error.html) When the log shows a skipped page or space. ### [Site published fine but some attachments are missing](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/site-published-fine-but-some-attachments-are-missing-showing-attachment-not-available.html) Size, type and storage limits. ### [What becomes a page](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/what-becomes-a-page.html) What is and is not published. ### [Update a published Confluence site after editing pages](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/update-a-published-confluence-site-after-editing-pages.html) Update and Promote, step by step. ### [Publishing problems](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/publishing-problems.html) Fixes for specific errors. --- _Check the Promote, the label, then the log._
