Publish Confluence pages as a public documentation site
To publish Confluence pages as a public documentation site, open Capable, choose Sites, then Create site. Name the site, add the spaces to publish, pick a theme, leave Access on Public, and select Create and publish. Check the staging preview, then select Promote. Your pages are live at the site address and open to search engines.
#Before you start
You need to be a Confluence admin to create a site.
Check the spaces first. Confluence page restrictions do not carry over, so every page in a published space goes public unless it has the
capable-sites-excludelabel.Choose the web address carefully. It cannot be changed later, though you can add your own domain.
#Steps
Open Capable, choose Sites, then Create site.
On Overview, enter the site name, check the suggested web address and add a description. Select Continue.
On Scope, add the spaces to publish, put them in navigation order, and pick a home space with the house icon if you want one. Select Continue.
On Theme, pick a palette and add your logo. Select Continue.
On Access, leave Public selected. Select Continue.
On Create, tick Publish it right away and select Create and publish.
When the build finishes, open the staging preview from the site's Overview and check it.
Select Promote, then Promote to production.
#What happens next
Your site is live at its address, with sitemaps and a robots.txt that welcome search engines. Each page has a Report content link in its footer. When you edit pages in Confluence, nothing changes on the site until you run Update and Promote again.
