Update a published Confluence site after editing pages

To update a published Confluence site after editing pages, open the site in Capable Sites and select Update on its Overview. When the build completes, check the staging preview, then select Promote and confirm with Promote to production. Edits in Confluence never reach the live site on their own, so both steps are needed every time.

#Before you start

  • You need to be a Confluence admin or a collaborator on the site.

  • Settings changes, such as the theme, redirects or integrations, publish the same way. Access changes are the exception: they apply straight away.

#Steps

  1. Open Capable, choose Sites, and open your site on its Overview.

  2. Check the change summary, such as N pages changed since last deployment.

  3. Select Update and wait until the build shows Complete.

  4. Open the staging preview and check your changes.

  5. Select Promote, then Promote to production.

  6. Select the picture of your site at the top of the Overview, marked Visit site, to open the live site.

#If it does not work

  • Deploy limit reached. A site can deploy 12 times an hour, and all your sites together 12 times. Wait and try again.

  • Staging preview expired. Previews last 90 days. Run Update again before you promote.

  • The live site still shows old content. Check you promoted after the Update, and that the page is not excluded.

Update builds. Promote publishes.
