Add a cookie consent banner to a Confluence site
To add a cookie consent banner to a Confluence site published with Capable Sites, open the site's Settings, choose Integrations, turn on Cookie consent popup and select Save changes, then Update and Promote. Visitors can accept all, reject all or choose by category, and analytics and widgets wait for their answer.
#Before you start
You need to be a Confluence admin or a collaborator on the site.
Set up the integrations you want first. The banner only offers the categories they need: Analytics for Google Analytics, Functional for the Jira Service Management and Released widgets, and all three when Tag Manager is connected.
#Steps
Open Capable, choose Sites, open your site, and select Settings, then the Integrations card.
Under Analytics, turn on Cookie consent popup.
If you use Tag Manager and want its own consent settings to decide which tags fire, turn on Tag Manager handles consent.
Select Save changes.
On the site's Overview, select Update, wait for it to finish, then select Promote.
Open the live site in a private window and check the banner appears in the bottom right corner.
#What happens next
Visitors see Accept all, Reject all and Customize. Customize shows a checkbox per category and Save choices. Each page also gets a Cookie settings link in the footer, so visitors can change their mind. Withdrawing a category reloads the page and clears the cookies Capable's integrations set for it.
Choices are remembered for 12 months. Statuspage sets no cookies, so it always loads.
