What you are seeing

You deleted a site, and now when you try to add its custom domain to the replacement site, you get the message "Domain is already registered".

#Why it happens

Deleting a site does not release its custom domain. The domain stays registered, along with its certificate and hosting setup, so it cannot be added to another site yet.

#What to do

Contact support and ask us to release the domain.

Next time, remove the custom domain from the site before you delete the site, and you will not run into this. You will find it in the site's Settings, under Custom domains.
