Set the SEO title and description of a published Confluence page
To set the SEO title and description of a page on a published Confluence site, open the site in Capable Sites, choose Pages and select the page. Type the Description, open More details and type the Title, or use Suggest with AI. Select Save metadata, then Update and Promote. Search results and social cards use the new text.
#Before you start
You need to be a Confluence admin or a collaborator on the site.
Without a title of its own, a page uses its Confluence title. Without a description, it uses the site description from Settings > General.
Aim for a title under 60 characters and a description of about 150. The counters show how close you are.
#Steps
Open Capable, choose Sites, open your site and choose Pages.
Select the page. Its Page metadata panel opens on the right.
Type a Description, or select the sparkle button for Suggest with AI.
Open More details and type a Title, or use Suggest with AI beside it.
Optionally drop in a Cover image for social sharing.
Select Save metadata.
On the site's Overview, select Update, then Promote.
#What happens next
The live page carries your title and description in its metadata. Search engines pick them up the next time they visit, which can take days. If the page has a Page metadata macro, the panel saves the values to that macro, so both stay in step.
