Custom domain is stuck on "Validating…"

What you are seeing

Your custom domain has shown "Validating…" for a while and isn’t moving on.

#Why it happens

Capable can’t see the certificate validation CNAME record yet. Usually that’s because the record is:

  • missing, so it hasn’t been added to your DNS

  • mistyped, so the Name or Value doesn’t match the card exactly

  • hidden behind a proxy or CDN, so it doesn’t answer as a plain CNAME

The _capable-verify TXT record isn’t the one holding things up. It’s the second record, the CNAME, that matters here.

#What to do

  1. Copy the Name and Value from the domain’s card.

  2. Add the CNAME record at your DNS provider exactly as shown. If your provider puts the record behind a proxy or CDN, switch that off for this record.

  3. Look the record up directly to confirm it answers.

Capable checks every 5 minutes for up to 48 hours, so once the record answers, validation carries on by itself. If the 48 hours run out, select Retry to start checking again.
