Keep a Confluence page off a published site

To keep a Confluence page off a site published with Capable Sites, add the label capable-sites-exclude to the page in Confluence, then run Update and Promote. The page disappears from the site, its search and its sitemap. Page restrictions do not do this, and child pages need the label too.

#Before you start

  • You need permission to add labels to the page in Confluence.

  • To publish the site, you need to be a Confluence admin or a collaborator on it.

  • To hide a whole space, remove it from the site in Settings > Spaces & URLs instead.

#Steps

  1. Open the page in Confluence.

  2. Add the label capable-sites-exclude.

  3. Add the same label to each child page you also want left out.

  4. In Capable Sites, open your site and select Update on its Overview.

  5. Check the staging preview no longer has the page, then select Promote.

#If it does not work

  • The page is still live. The label only takes effect on the next Update, and the live site only changes when you promote.

  • Its children are still there. Child pages are not excluded with their parent. Label each one.

  • You used your own label. Only capable-sites-exclude and scroll-help-center-exclude-page work.

Labels only. Restrictions are not exclusion.
