Formatting settings

Formatting has its own settings page with two tabs, plus a few switches that live at the product level rather than in this capability.

The two tabs are where nearly all the value is.

#The two tabs

The Formatting settings screen with the Macro presets tab selected, showing organisation macro presets with a Team Cards preset saved under Cards and no presets yet under Buttons.
Macro presets are listed one macro at a time, and each saved preset can be edited, deleted or marked as the default.

#A few things worth knowing

  • Hiding a capability is a visibility change. The macros stay in Confluence's own insert menu and existing ones keep rendering.

  • Brand guidelines are per theme. Set both, or dark mode will look unconsidered.

  • Settings changes take up to a minute to reach other people.

Two tabs. Most of the value is in the first.
