Change Confluence macro settings for your whole site

To change Confluence macro settings for your whole site, open the Macros app as a site administrator and choose Global settings under Manage in the sidebar. Its tabs hold the macro feature switches, brand guidelines, macro presets and status badge sets: the same settings as the Formatting tab in Confluence administration.

Why

Confluence site administrator

Global settings only appears for site administrators, because these settings apply to everyone. Space administrators do not see it.

The Macros page, not the insert dialog

The entry is left out of the dialog you use to insert a macro into a page.

#Steps

  1. Open the app from Apps in the Confluence top bar: Capable Formatting, or Capable and then Macros in the suite.

  2. In the sidebar, under Manage, choose Global settings.

  3. Open the tab you need: Features, Brand guidelines, Macro presets or Status badges.

  4. On Features, switch AI integrations or JavaScript in HTML macro on or off. Each switch saves as soon as you change it.

  5. On the other tabs, make your changes and click Save changes, or Create preset on Macro presets.

#If it does not work

  • There is no Global settings entry. You are not a Confluence site administrator, or you opened the insert dialog rather than the Macros page. A site administrator can still use the Formatting tab in Capable's settings in Confluence administration.

  • A tab shows Could not load macro branding. Click Retry. The tab waits for a fresh copy of the settings before it lets you edit, so you never overwrite another administrator's newer change.

  • Turning off AI integrations affected another app. That switch applies to every Capable capability that uses AI, not just macros.

Site-wide settings, right where you use the macros.
