Add a banner to a Confluence page

To add a banner to a Confluence page, insert the Banner (Capable) macro and fill in the first slide: a Title, Body, an image and, if you want one, Button Text with a page or URL link. Add more slides with Add Slide and turn on Auto scroll to rotate them. For a moving gradient hero instead, use Animated banner (Capable).

#Before you start

  • You need permission to edit the page.

  • Capable Formatting, or the Capable suite, must be installed on your Confluence site.

  • Images can come from the page's attachments or a web address. Web images must come from an approved domain; see An image or feed will not load.

#Steps

  1. Edit the page, type /banner and choose Banner (Capable), or Banner macro (Capable) in the standalone app.

  2. On the Content tab, enter the slide's Title and Body, and choose an Image with its Alt Text.

  3. Enter Button Text, set Type to Page or URL, and pick the page or paste the address.

  4. Select Add Slide for each extra slide, and drag slides into order.

  5. Turn on Auto scroll and set the Interval (seconds).

  6. On the Style tab, adjust the overlay, text colour, button fill, border and shadow, then publish.

#A few things that catch people out

  • Text colour is picked automatically from the image, light or dark. Set Text Color only to override it.

  • Animated banner (Capable) is a different macro: a single moving hero with a Title, Subtitle, Button and Speed, and no slides. See Animated banner.

First impressions count, even on a wiki page.
