Jira Diagrams

We support a wide range of diagramming languages and tools, including Mermaid, PlantUML, DBML, C4, and Excalidraw. Whether you’re sketching a quick flowchart, modeling a database, or capturing a full architecture view, you can work in the language you know best and keep everything in one place.

Every diagram you create is stored as an attachment on the issue itself, making it easy to share with teammates, track alongside the work it supports, and revisit later without digging through external systems. On top of that, diagrams are automatically indexed - so you can browse across projects, filter by diagram language, and quickly find the visuals you need, no matter how many you’ve created.

If you’re just getting started, you’ll find it simple to open an issue, launch the editor, and create your first diagram. For those who want to go deeper, we also provide guides for using specific languages, tips for collaborating visually with your team, and details on how diagrams are stored and managed inside Jira.

With Diagrams for Jira, your issues don’t just tell the story of your work - they show it.

#Add Diagrams to Issues

You can embed diagrams onto any issue and have them shown on the issue view page as a tabbed interface, making it easy to add multiple diagrams explaining work items.

#Use the Live Editor

You can use the visual editor (Excalidraw) to draw diagrams with support for icon libraries, or use more advanced languages using the text editor with a live preview of your diagram shown.

You can also simply upload a diagram file to the Jira work item and it will be rendered in the Diagrams panel!
