Insert an image from your library into a Confluence page

To insert an image from your library into a Confluence page, type /image reference in the editor, choose Image reference (Capable), pick the image and set its size and alignment. The page then always shows the library's latest version, so replacing the file in the library updates this page too.

#Before you start

  • You need permission to edit the page.

  • The image must already be in a space or global library. Page attachments and stock photos need importing first.

  • In the standalone app the macro is called Image reference macro (Capable).

#Steps

  1. Open the page in the editor and type /image reference. Choose Image reference (Capable).

  2. On the Content tab, pick the Image from the space or global library.

  3. Set Width, Height, Aspect Ratio and Alignment, and turn on Show Caption if you want the caption.

  4. On the Style tab, adjust Corner radius, Shadow and Border if you like.

  5. Close the panel and publish the page.

#What happens next

The image shows at the size you set and follows the library: upload a new version and this page updates. The page appears in the image's Used on Pages list once it has been indexed.

Place it once. It stays current.
