Working with other capabilities

Most of what makes Images worth having in the suite comes from what sits next to it. This page is the summary; each connection has its own page with the detail.

Where a connection does not exist, it is listed as such rather than left out, so you can stop looking.

What you get

Shared image picker (Formatting macros)

The Images capability contributes a 'Capable Images' accordion section to the shared image picker used by the Formatting Banner, Cards, Gallery, Compare and Background macro configs. It searches the current space library and the global library together.

Asset reference picker (other surfaces)

Any surface can open the images library to pick a referenceable asset through the generic asset-reference field, labelled 'Select an image'.

Markdown 'From library'

Adds a 'From library' item to the Markdown capability's image insert menu. Picking an image writes a normal markdown image whose URL is a Capable reference, which the Markdown renderer resolves live. So it does follow later library edits.

Auto-convert on paste

Pasting https://assets.app.<zone>/<hash>/assets/images/assets/<id> becomes an Image reference macro; pasting .../assets/images/folders/<space-or-global>/<folderId> becomes an Image folder gallery.

CQL search on library images

Library images ship nine searchable fields you can use in Confluence's CQL builder: Asset title (~), Asset description (~), Asset category (=), Asset author (=), Asset template (=), Asset capability (=), Asset type (=), Asset feature (=) and Asset tags (=). So the library is directly searchable and.

Page reference index

Every image an Image reference macro points at is recorded on the page under an 'Image References' field, exposed to CQL. That is what powers the 'Used on Pages' panel.

PDF and Word export

It downloads the picture with app authority and inlines it as a data URL, because an external link back to the download URL is rejected by the PDF and Word renderers. Failures degrade to a yellow warning panel rather than a broken image.

Published Capable Sites

Image reference exports fully. The file is copied into the site and alignment, caption, corner radius, shadow and border are reproduced (Width, Height and Aspect Ratio are not). Image folder gallery renders an explanatory note. The Image library placeholder renders nothing. Any Capable image referen

Rovo chat agent

Both apps ship an agent that can work with library images. Standalone: 'Capable Images' (images only), with the conversation starters 'Find relevant images from library', 'Insert an image onto the page' and 'Find images in the brand folder'. Suite: 'Capable Agent', which covers diagrams, markdown, i

Stock search does not reach Unsplash from the browser. It calls Capable's own service with the viewer's app token.

#The pages

#A few things worth knowing

  • A connection needs both halves installed. In a standalone app most of these do not exist.

  • Anything that depends on search only reflects pages that have been indexed.

  • Published sites render Capable macros properly, which is where several of these pay off.
