Every product has a shape people expect it to have, and this is where this one differs. Nothing here is coming in a particular release; it is simply not offered today.

This page exists so you can plan around it rather than spending an afternoon looking for a switch.

#Not available

  • The older 'Image (Capable)' macro (also listed as 'Images macro (Capable)') has no configuration panel and no style options. It only acts as a placeholder that opens the image picker and then replaces itself with the image you choose. There is no migration tool for it either.

  • The older 'Image (Capable)' macro does not appear in the macro browser or the Command palette.

  • Capable's image actions (describe, search, get, fetch, create, update, insert and upload) are not available to your own AI agents or to external MCP clients. The standalone Images app offers none, and the Suite offers only its two approval tools.

  • Image search from the Command palette is not available in the standalone Images app. It is only in the Suite.

  • Images cannot be pinned to the nav bar. You reach them from the Capable menu.

  • There is no thumbnail mode when you edit an image. Images always load at full resolution and are only shrunk automatically when they are over 3 MB.

#A few things worth knowing

  • If one of these is the reason you are evaluating the product, say so before you buy rather than after.

  • The list changes with each release, so check the release notes before assuming it still applies.

  • Where the app's own wording differs from this page, believe the app.

Better to know now than hunt for a switch.
