Upload images to a Confluence image library
To upload images to a Confluence image library, open Capable Images, choose Space images or Global images (or a folder inside one), and click Upload, or drag files straight onto the library. Each file becomes a searchable library image, kept exactly as you uploaded it, that anyone can then place on their pages.
#Before you start
Library | Who can upload |
|---|---|
Space images | People who can add attachments and create pages in that space |
Global images | People allowed to edit the global library, set by a site administrator |
#Steps
Open Capable Images from the space sidebar or the Apps menu. In the suite you can also open it from the Capable byline on any page.
In the sidebar, choose Space images or Global images.
To keep things tidy, click Create folder, name the folder and open it. Folders are one level deep.
Click Upload at the top right and pick one or more image files, or drag them from your computer onto the library.
Wait for each upload to finish. The images appear in the folder with a thumbnail.
#What happens next
Each image is saved as its own Confluence content, so it has a title, a description, version history and shows up in search. Your original file is kept untouched; only the thumbnail used for browsing is made smaller. Insert the image on any page from the library or the editor.
Uploading an SVG? Drag it in. The Upload button's file picker does not offer SVG, ICO or JFIF files, but dragging them onto the library works.
