Insert position control
Inserting from the byline shows a heading picker so you can choose where on the page the image lands. Inserting from the 'Image (Capable)' macro placeholder does not. It replaces the macro node where it already sits.
#Where you do it
Task | Where |
|---|---|
Create a folder | Images library → Space images or Global images → new folder control |
Create a gallery by pasting a folder link | Editor → paste the folder's Capable asset URL |
Style a gallery grid | Image folder gallery config panel → Style tab |
#Worth knowing
Newly inserted galleries and galleries created by pasting a folder link do not look the same. Inserting from the macro browser applies the insert defaults (corner radius 8, gap 16, small shadow) plus any tenant brand guidelines; a pasted link rebuilds the config from the plain defaults (corner radius 6, gap 12, no shadow). This default split affects the gallery only. For the Image reference macro
'Used on Pages' only counts Image reference macros, and only after indexing. Native inserted copies and gallery macros are invisible to it. Indexing runs on page-change triggers filtered to licensed sites, so an unlicensed or evaluation site indexes nothing, and a pasted reference link that was never re-saved carries no stored image id to index. The list is also capped at 25 pages.
Images cannot be turned off per space from the released UI. The Space settings screen only shows the Auto/Always/Never control for capabilities that can be pinned to the nav bar, and Images cannot be pinned, so its row is a static 'Available from Capable Menu' badge. The standalone byline's display condition does still read a per-space off-switch property, but no released screen writes it. And the
An image edited before insert is limited to 3 MB, matching the server's editor read cap.
