Target page shows as Missing target only long after somebody deleted it
What you are seeing
The target page shows as Missing target only long after somebody deleted it.
#Why it happens
Nothing detects the deletion. "Missing target" is only worked out during the next publish attempt on that page.
#What to do
Republish the page. That discovers the missing target and recreates the copy. To spot them in advance, run Publish all pages periodically.

#A few things that catch people out
A source-space administrator can only configure a target space they do not administer if somebody else already set that target; the settings screen then shows a note and refuses to save a changed target.
