# Target page shows as Missing target only long after somebody deleted it

**What you are seeing**

The target page shows as Missing target only long after somebody deleted it.

## Why it happens

Nothing detects the deletion. "Missing target" is only worked out during the next publish attempt on that page.

## What to do

Republish the page. That discovers the missing target and recreates the copy. To spot them in advance, run Publish all pages periodically.

## A few things that catch people out

* A source-space administrator can only configure a target space they do not administer if somebody else already set that target; the settings screen then shows a note and refuses to save a changed target.
