Require approval for every new page in a Confluence space
To make every new page in a Confluence space need approval, enable an approval team on the Teams tab of Space Approval Settings. Then, on the Automation tab, turn on Page creation under Apply a default team to pages and choose that team as the Default team. New pages then arrive with an approval waiting.
#Before you start
You need | Why |
|---|---|
Space administrator permission | Automation is a space setting. |
An approval team with members | Automation has no reviewer list of its own. See Teams and assignment. |
#Steps
In the space, open Space settings, then Capable (Capable Approval if you use the standalone app), to reach Space Approval Settings.
On the Teams tab, enable the team for this space and set its minimums and expiry.
On the Automation tab, under Apply a default team to pages, turn on Page creation.
Pick the team in Default team.
Optionally, turn on Page update as well. Existing pages are then pulled in one at a time as people edit them.
Save your changes.
#If it does not work
Nothing is raised if the default team is missing, not enabled in the space, or has no members. There is no error on the page.
Page update only fires for pages that have never had an approval.
Blog posts are not covered by automation. You can still approve one by hand.
Confluence Automation rules have no Capable action. These switches are the way to do it.
