Post Confluence approval updates to a Slack channel
To post a Confluence space's approval activity to a Slack channel, invite the Capable bot to the channel, then in Global settings, on the Notifications tab, select Set up next to Slack channels on the Slack card. Add the space and choose which events the channel hears about.
#Before you start
You need | Why |
|---|---|
A Confluence administrator | Channel set-up lives in Global settings. |
Slack connected | |
The Capable bot invited to the channel | It cannot post to a channel it is not in. |
#Steps
In Slack, invite the Capable bot to the channel.
Open Global settings. Site administrators find it under Manage in the Approval sidebar, or in Confluence administration.
On the Notifications tab, select Set up next to Slack channels on the Slack card.
Add the space the channel should follow.
Switch on the events the channel should hear about: requests, approvals, rejections, comments, status changes and expirations.
#Good to know
Comments are quoted in full in channel posts, so everyone in the channel reads them.
People turning off their own Slack notifications does not stop channel posts.
Useful for a compliance channel watching a controlled space, or a team channel watching its own.
