Use the Capable Agent in Rovo for Confluence

Capable for Confluence adds a Rovo agent called Capable Agent. Open Rovo chat in Confluence, choose Capable Agent and ask in your own words: find or create a diagram, Markdown document or image, place it on the page, add a formatting macro, list what is waiting for approval, or ask named people to approve a page.

#Before you start

You need

Why

Rovo on your Confluence site

The Capable Agent runs inside Atlassian's Rovo chat.

Capable for Confluence installed

The agent comes with the app. There is nothing to switch on in Capable.

Access to the page and content

The agent works as you, with your own permissions. It cannot see anything you cannot.

#Steps

  1. Open the Confluence page you want to work on, then open Rovo chat.

  2. Choose Capable Agent from the list of agents.

  3. Pick a suggestion such as Ask my team for approval on this page, Insert a diagram based on this page or Insert image from the Capable library, or describe what you want.

  4. When the agent is about to change the page or send an approval request, Rovo asks you to confirm first. Check it and confirm.

#What it can and cannot do

Ask it to

Notes

Find, create or edit a diagram, Markdown document or image

Stored in Capable, so it stays editable afterwards.

Place one on the page, or add a formatting macro

Changes the page, so Rovo confirms first.

List pending approvals

Only pages you can already see.

Ask named people to approve a page

Sends real notifications, so Rovo confirms first.

Approve or reject a page

Not possible. Approving is a decision for a person, made on the page.

#Using Capable from your own agents

Two abilities are also published as tools for agents you build in Rovo Studio and for external assistants that connect over MCP (Model Context Protocol): List pending approvals and Request page approval. See Rovo and AI assistants in the Approval space.

#If it does not work

  • The agent finds nothing: check you can open the content yourself. It never sees more than you do.

  • A diagram has no preview yet: some kinds of diagram need a moment, and a few never get one. The diagram itself is still there.

  • You do not see Capable Agent: check Rovo is available on your site and that Capable for Confluence is installed.

Ask in your own words. You still have the final say.
