Send Confluence approval updates to a Slack channel
To send Confluence approval updates to a Slack channel, invite the Capable bot to the channel, then as a site administrator open the Notifications tab in Global settings and select Set up next to Slack channels. Add the channel, choose the spaces and notification types, and send a test message.
#Before you start
You need to be a Confluence site administrator.
Slack must already be connected. See Connect Slack to Capable for Confluence.
Invite the Capable bot to the Slack channel first. Without it, messages are dropped silently.
Channel posts skip page permissions. Everyone in the channel sees the title and link of every page in the spaces you choose, including restricted ones. Pick channels and spaces with that in mind.
#Steps
In Slack, invite the Capable bot to the channel.
In Confluence, open Global settings for Capable and select the Notifications tab.
On the Slack card, select Set up next to Slack channels.
Select Add channel and enter the channel ID or name, for example
#approvals.Under Spaces, pick the spaces the channel should follow.
Under Notification types, pick the events to post.
Leave Send a test message to the channel when saved ticked and select Add channel.
#If it does not work
No test message arrived: the bot is not in the channel, or the name or ID is wrong. Invite the bot and save again.
Posts stopped: the channel may have been renamed or archived. Edit the channel and save it again.
Turning Slack off for yourself does not stop channel posts. Remove the channel to stop them.
