Update Capable for Confluence when it says Addon is outdated
Capable shows Addon is outdated. at the top of its pages when a newer version has been out for more than two days and your site has not taken it yet. A Confluence administrator selects Update now, applies the update in Confluence's app management, and accepts any new permissions. Everyone else sees Contact an admin.
#Before you start
You need | Why |
|---|---|
A Confluence site administrator | Only administrators get the Update now link and can apply app updates. |
A minute or two | Updates do not need a maintenance window, and nobody loses work. |
#Steps
On the banner at the top of any Capable page, select Update now. It opens Confluence's app management.
Find Capable for Confluence in the list and apply the waiting update.
If the update asks for new permissions, review and accept them. Until then the banner reads Update required.
Go back to Capable and select the refresh icon at the end of the banner, or reload the page.
#What happens next
The update brings your existing data up to date in the background and refreshes the example pages, so local edits to those example pages are lost. The banner goes away once Capable sees the new version.
#If it does not work
The banner is still there after updating: do a hard reload, which clears an old copy of the app held by the browser.
Update required. means a permission change is waiting, not just a new version. It stays until an administrator accepts it.
Some features say they need the latest app version, such as the Egress tab. Updating and accepting the new permissions clears that too.
