Frequently asked questions about Capable for Confluence
Microsoft Teams support is coming soon.
Short answers to the questions that come up most, each with a link to the page that covers it properly.
#Installing and licensing
#Which Capable features need the Advanced edition?
Quality needs Advanced. Sites works on Standard with up to 3 sites instead of 10, and Forms works on Standard with the plain text input only. Everything else is in both editions. See Editions.
#What happens when my Capable licence or trial expires?
Capable macros show a License expired or Trial expired panel straight away, as there is no grace period. Nothing is deleted, and renewing brings everything back. See Fix License Not Found or License expired in Capable for Confluence.
#Notifications
#Can I turn off Slack or Microsoft Teams messages just for myself?
Yes. Turn off the Slack or Microsoft Teams switch in the Notifications section of your Capable settings. It changes nothing for anyone else, and Slack channel posts carry on. See Notifications.
#Why does one person never get Slack or Teams messages?
Capable finds people by their Confluence email address. If their Slack or Microsoft 365 address is different, nothing is sent. Also check their own switch is on. See Slack notifications.
#Who can connect Microsoft Teams?
A Confluence site administrator who is also a Microsoft 365 Global or Teams Administrator, or the two people together. Connecting is done once for the whole site. See Connect Microsoft Teams to Capable for Confluence.
#Why do Slack channel posts show restricted pages?
Channel posts deliberately skip page permissions, so everyone in the channel sees the title and link. Choose channels and spaces with that in mind. See Send Confluence approval updates to a Slack channel.
#Settings
#Where did the email and Slack switches on the Features tab go?
They moved to the Notifications tab in Global settings, onto the card for each channel. See Site settings.
#Why can I not see Global settings in the Approval sidebar?
The entry only shows to Confluence site administrators, and only once Capable has confirmed it. Space administrators see Space settings instead. See Change a capability's global settings without leaving Capable.
#Do I need to save Global settings?
No. Each switch saves as soon as you change it. Other people see the change within about a minute. See Settings reference.
#Does hiding a capability turn off its macros?
No. Hiding removes it from the navigation, the byline and the command palette, but macros stay in the insert menu and keep rendering on pages. See Hiding capabilities.
#Using Capable
#Why does the byline not find my template?
The byline matches words in a template's title and description, and searches your own templates in the page's space and the global library only. See Search for templates from the Confluence byline.
#Do Capable macros work for anonymous visitors on public pages?
Most do. A part that needs a signed-in reader shows a short notice such as Sign in to view this diagram, and everything else on the page still renders. See Licence states.
#Does Capable work with Rovo?
Yes. Capable for Confluence adds a Capable Agent to Rovo chat that can create and place diagrams, documents and images and ask people to approve a page. Rovo asks you to confirm before it changes a page or sends a request. See Use the Capable Agent in Rovo for Confluence.
#Moving and uninstalling
#Can I move from standalone Capable Approval without losing history?
Yes. A guided move freezes and exports your approvals, then imports status, approvers, comments and full history into Capable for Confluence. Approvals are read-only until each page is imported. See Move from standalone Capable Approval.
#What happens to my data when I uninstall Capable?
Diagrams, Markdown documents, templates, saved searches and image libraries stay in Confluence and are there again when you reinstall, but Capable macros do not render while the app is uninstalled. Everything the app holds in Forge storage and Forge SQL is deleted: approvals and their history, approval teams, calendar events, publishing and Sites history, and settings. Atlassian can restore it for up to two weeks after the uninstall. If you uninstalled by mistake, contact Capable support straight away. After two weeks it is gone for good. Your Slack connection and notification opt-outs are kept for 30 days, then deleted. See Uninstalling: what is kept and what is deleted.
