Fix License Not Found or License expired in Capable for Confluence
Capable shows a yellow License Not Found panel when Confluence has no licence for the app, and a red Trial expired or License expired panel when it has lapsed. There is no grace period. A site administrator fixes it from Manage Apps. Nothing is deleted: re-licensing brings every macro back.
#Before you start
You need | Why |
|---|---|
A Confluence site administrator | Only administrators can manage app licences. |
Access to your Atlassian billing | If the licence has lapsed, it is renewed through Atlassian, like any Marketplace app. |
#Steps
If the app was installed a moment ago, wait a few minutes and reload. A new licence can take that long to become active.
Select Manage Apps on the panel. It opens Confluence's app management.
Find Capable for Confluence and check its licence status.
If the trial or licence has ended, renew or subscribe through Atlassian. View on Marketplace on the panel opens the listing.
Reload the Confluence page. Capable macros render again straight away.
#What happens next
While the licence is missing, every Capable macro on every page shows the panel instead of its content. Your content is still stored and nothing is lost. Once the licence is active, everything renders again without anybody re-inserting anything.
Readers without a seat, and logged-out visitors on public pages, are a different case. Macros keep rendering for them, and only the Capable byline, global page and space page show a small Powered by Capable notice. See Licence states.
#If it does not work
You are mid-migration and macros look broken: check the licence first. A lapsed licence looks exactly like a failed migration.
Only one capability is missing, not all of them: that is usually your edition or a hidden capability, not the licence. See Editions.
Still stuck: see Getting help.
