Fix Capable permission errors in Confluence

When Capable cannot save, insert or show something for you, open your Capable settings and select Troubleshoot Permissions. It checks your page and attachment permissions in the current space and in the Capable Asset Store space, and whether the app needs an update, and names each problem separately so you know what to ask for.

#Before you start

You need

Why

Any Capable user

Everyone can run the checks for themselves.

The space you have a problem in

Open Capable from that space. The space checks only run when a space is selected.

#Steps

  1. Select the Capable menu at the top left of any Capable page, then Settings.

  2. In the General section, select Troubleshoot Permissions.

  3. Each check shows as passed, a warning or an error, with a line explaining it.

  4. Send the failing check to your space or site administrator, then select Run Again once they have changed it.

Check

What to ask for

Current Space Add Page Permission

Create page permission in that space.

Current Space Add Attachment Permission

Create attachment permission in that space. Diagrams and images are stored as attachments.

Global Space Exists/Can Access

Access to the Capable Asset Store space (CAPABLEASSETSTORE), where shared assets live.

Global Space Add Page Permission and Global Space Add Attachment Permission

Create permissions in the Capable Asset Store, if you need to add to the shared library.

App Update Needed

A site administrator to update the app or accept its new permissions.

#If it does not work

  • Every check passes but something still fails: note what you were doing and contact support. See Getting help.

  • A reader sees You do not have permission to view on a macro: they cannot see the underlying content. Check page restrictions.

  • Your administrator deliberately removed Add on the Capable Asset Store: that is how shared templates are protected. See Restrict who can edit shared Capable templates and images.

Name the missing permission, then ask for exactly that.
