Hide a Capable capability in one Confluence space
To hide a Capable capability in one Confluence space, a space administrator opens Space settings, selects Capable under Integrations, and on the Capabilities card sets that capability to Never. It disappears from the Capable menus in that space only. Other spaces, and macros already on pages, are not affected.
#Before you start
You need | Why |
|---|---|
A space administrator for the space | Everyone else sees the settings read-only, with You must be a Space Admin to change these settings. |
The capability not hidden for the whole site | A site-wide hide always wins, so there is nothing to change per space. |
#Steps
In the space, open Space settings, then Capable in the Integrations group.
Under Space Capability Settings, find the Capabilities card.
Open the dropdown next to the capability and choose Never. It saves straight away.
#What the options do
Option | What it does today |
|---|---|
Auto | Show when relevant. The default. |
Always | Currently behaves the same as Auto. |
Never | Hides the capability in this space. The only option that changes anything today. |
#If it does not work
Some capabilities show a read-only Available from Capable Menu badge instead of a dropdown. They cannot be controlled per space.
You want it gone everywhere: a site administrator uses the Capabilities tab in Global settings instead. See Hide a Capable feature from users.
People still see it: allow about a minute, or up to five in a tab that was already open.
