Share Markdown templates in Confluence
To share Markdown templates in Confluence, open the Capable Markdown page, go to Space templates or Global templates, click Create, write the template and save it. Anyone can then insert it with the Markdown reference (Capable) macro, and every page that references it shows the template's latest version.
#Before you start
Template type | Who can create it |
|---|---|
Space template | People who can add content in that space |
Global template | People allowed to edit the global library. A site administrator sets this on the Permissions tab of Capable's global settings. |
If Create is greyed out, hover it to see why.
#Steps
Open Capable Markdown from Apps in the Confluence top bar, or from the space sidebar. In the suite, open Capable and choose Markdown.
In the sidebar, under Templates, choose Space templates or Global templates.
Click Create.
Give the template a unique title, write its content, and click Save.
On the page where you want it, type /markdown reference and choose Markdown reference (Capable).
Pick your template in Markdown Template, save the macro and publish the page.
#What happens next
Every page with a reference macro shows the template as it is now. Edit the template once and all of them update. If you want a copy a page can change on its own, insert the template with the ordinary Markdown macro instead, or insert it from the byline.
Already have the Markdown on a page? Open it on the Capable Markdown page and use Save as template to copy it into the library. The original stays on its page.
