Content indexing and CQL aliases
Capable keeps a record of which markdown templates each page uses. That record powers the byline count, the 'Used on Pages' panel and CQL searches on markdown references.
In CQL, the field is called <APP_HASH>_capable_refs_markdown_refs. It updates automatically whenever markdown is created or changed, and straight after you save a macro. Automatic updates only run while the app is licensed.
#Where you do it
Task | Where |
|---|---|
Add a markdown document to a page | Confluence editor → /Markdown (Capable) [Suite] or /Markdown macro (Capable) [standalone], or the Markdown byline entry on a published page |
Import a markdown file from your computer | Configure Markdown → Markdown from scratch → 'Upload file', or drop the file on the editor |
Save a document to the shared library | Capable Markdown page → Templates → Space templates or Global templates → Create |
#Settings that affect this
Setting | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Global settings → Capabilities → Markdown | - | Hiding Markdown removes it from the Capable navigation bar and the content byline menu across the whole site. It does not stop existing macros from rendering. |
Global settings → Permissions | - | Controls who can edit the Global library, and so who can create Global markdown templates. The setting is shared with diagrams, images, calendar and search. |
Global settings → Indexing | - | Runs a backfill on demand. The byline count, the 'Used on Pages' panel and the markdown reference CQL searches all depend on it. |
#Limits that apply here
Limit | Value | What happens |
|---|---|---|
Large-document scroll mode | 500,000 characters | Past this, the document macro shows "Large content detected. Rendering in scrollable mode." and displays the document in a fixed-height scroll box instead of inline. |
URL fetch size limit | 2.5 MB | A document fetched from a URL that is larger than 2.5 MB is rejected (error 413), and so is an unsupported content type (error 415). Capable also upgrades http links to https, refuses anything that isn't http or https, and blocks IP addresses used as URLs. |
