Limits
Every limit here reports itself rather than failing silently. These are the numbers to plan around.
#Every limit
Limit | Value | What happens |
|---|---|---|
Large-document scroll mode | 500,000 characters | Past this the document macro shows '⚠️ Large content detected. Rendering in scrollable mode.' and renders inside a fixed 1200px-high scroll box instead of inline. |
Virtualised rendering threshold | 500,000 chars ; 1,000,000 chars (large p | Above the threshold the document is chunked (400 lines or 60,000 characters per chunk, fences kept intact) and only visible chunks are rendered. |
MCP / Rovo document size cap | 512 KB (524,288 characters) | Creating or updating a markdown asset through the Capable tools refuses (rather than truncates) anything larger, with a message telling the caller to split it. |
AI diagram repairs per generation | 3 | Only the first three fenced diagram blocks in a generated document are validated and repaired; anything beyond that, and any language outside the seven repairable ones, passes through verbatim. |
Macro title and description input length | 50 characters each | The macro config's 'Markdown title' and 'Markdown description' fields and the from-scratch editor's title field all stop at 50 characters. |
Library import truncation | Title 128 characters, description 250 ch | Dragging page-owned markdown into the template library silently truncates the copied title and description. |
Version history entry limit | 50 | Beyond 50 versions the panel shows 'Limited to the last 50 entries'. |
Version list de-duplication window | 15 seconds | Versions saved within 15 seconds of the previous shown entry are hidden from the list, so rapid auto-saves do not flood it (migration-era versions are exempt). |
Image load timeout | 15 seconds | An image inside markdown that has not loaded in 15 seconds is replaced with '[Image load timed out: …]'. |
New-macro retry window | 10 retries at 15 seconds ≈ 2.5 minutes | When an asset should exist but has not indexed yet, a freshly inserted document macro retries the fetch on a 15-second timer up to 10 times before giving up. Legitimately-unconfigured macros do not poll. |
New-template catalogue polling | 8 attempts, backoff up to 8 seconds each | After creating a template the app polls for the Confluence-side listing to include it, so a new template can take several seconds to appear. |
#A few things worth knowing
A limit that is reached is reported in the interface, not in a log you have to find.
Limits are per site or per tenant depending on the limit. The table says which.
Edition can change some of these.
