Frequently asked questions
Short answers to common questions about Capable Quality. Each one links to the page with the full detail.
#Why does the byline just say Quality?
There is no up-to-date result to show yet: the page has not been checked, it changed and could not be rechecked straight away, or the check failed. Open the item and the panel scans the page. See Quality page byline item.
#What do the byline colours mean?
Green with No issues means every rule that is turned on passes. Red means at least one Priority finding, orange at least one Warning, and blue Info findings only.
#Why did a page change from orange to blue?
Since 10 October 2026 the colour follows the most serious finding. A page with only Info findings now shows blue instead of orange.
#Who can see the Quality item?
Anyone signed in who can view the page, unless Quality is hidden for the site or the space is set to Never. In the Capable Suite it also needs the Advanced edition. A space no longer has to be set to Always.
#Who can change the rules?
Only Confluence administrators. Rules apply to the whole site, so there is no separate rule set for each space. See Turn Confluence quality rules on or off.
#Which rules are turned on to start with?
Image alt text, Heading sequence, Folder candidate, No headings, Inappropriate language and Non-inclusive language. The rest start off.
#What can one-click Fix change?
Heading capitalisation, inappropriate language and non-inclusive language. The fix saves a new page version straight away, so use the page history to undo it. See Fix heading capitalisation and language issues in one click.
#Do I need edit permission to fix or dismiss?
Yes. Fixing, dismissing and restoring all change the page, so they need edit permission. Anyone who can view the page can read the findings.
#Why does a dismissed finding still count?
The byline count updates when you reload the page. Dismissing has no effect on Disallowed domain links, Disallowed macros, Third-party macros, Stale content or Disallowed labels. See Dismissed a quality issue but the byline count did not change.
#Why do Stale content and Disallowed labels show as passing in the panel?
The panel opened from the byline does not check those two rules, though the byline counts them. Use the Quality panel in Capable Search or the rule's list in Capable Quality. See Byline label and the Page Quality panel disagree.
#How up to date is the dashboard?
Totals and rule charts use each page's latest scan. Top spaces by issues comes from a weekly sweep, which a Confluence admin can start early with Refresh. See See content quality across all Confluence spaces.
#Can I find pages with quality issues in Capable Search?
Yes. Add the Quality filter and column, and open the Quality panel on any result. See Find pages with quality issues in Capable Search.
