Smartsheet for Confluence FAQ
The questions below come from support conversations and from the edge cases in the product. Each answer links to the page with the detail.
#Which Smartsheet plan do I need?
Business or Enterprise, for picking sheets, applying views and the interactive table, because they use Smartsheet's API. A publish link you already have embeds on any plan. See this troubleshooting page.
#Does embedding make my sheet public?
Only if you choose Read-only sheet or Editable sheet, which use a Smartsheet publish link anyone can open. Interactive table publishes nothing. See Show a Smartsheet as an interactive table in Confluence.
#Can readers without a Smartsheet account see the sheet?
Yes: use Interactive table with viewer access, or a published sheet. See Show a Smartsheet to Confluence readers without a Smartsheet account.
#Can readers edit the sheet from Confluence?
Yes, with Editable sheet. Anyone with that publish link can edit, so use it carefully. See Let readers edit a Smartsheet from a Confluence page.
#Why is Apply greyed out?
Either you are not logged in to Smartsheet in the macro, or the view you picked is already active, in which case the button reads Applied. See Apply is greyed out.
#What does "Finish setting up this sheet" mean?
A sheet link was pasted but no view was applied. Open the configuration, choose a view and select Apply. See this troubleshooting page.
#Why does the macro say "This link can't be embedded"?
The link is not a Smartsheet sheet or publish link the app is allowed to embed. See this troubleshooting page.
#Can I use an EU Smartsheet account?
You can embed EU sheets by pasting their publish link. Logging in, browsing, publishing and the interactive table work with smartsheet.com accounts only. See Cannot connect an EU Smartsheet account.
#How do I stop a sheet being public?
Select Remove link under How this sheet is shared in Smartsheet. The link stops working everywhere. See Stop sharing a published Smartsheet link from Confluence.
#Does the sheet appear in PDF or Word exports and published sites?
No. See Smartsheet macro is missing from an exported PDF or Word file, or published site.
#Is Smartsheet part of the Capable Suite?
No. Smartsheet for Confluence is a separate app.
