Uninstalling and what is deleted

This is the most consequential page in this space. Uninstalling the suite is not like uninstalling a macro pack: Capable stores real content, and the platform deletes it when the app goes.

Read this before you uninstall, not after.

#What happens at uninstall

Best-effort cleanup runs inside a roughly 55-second window: the site's signing key is deregistered so a reinstall is not locked out, calendar subscription feeds are revoked, and teardown of any published Sites is started (CloudFront takes about 20 minutes per site and finishes long after the uninstall). No failure blocks the uninstall and no failure is shown to the admin.

#What is deleted afterwards

Everything Capable stored, diagrams, markdown documents, templates, saved searches, image libraries and their attachments, is deleted by the platform and cannot be recovered. There is no export. What survives: the Capable Asset Store space and its pages, page attachments, and the app's Confluence content properties, which remain as orphaned metadata.

#Before you uninstall

  • Export or migrate anything you want to keep. Diagrams can be exported individually; there is no bulk export.

  • If you are moving to standalone apps, migrate first and verify, exactly as you would coming the other way.

  • If you are moving to another vendor, get the content out while the app can still render it.

  • Remember that pages will keep their macros, which will no longer render.

#A few things worth knowing

  • Anything stored as a normal Confluence attachment by a capability may survive, but do not rely on that.

  • Uninstalling is the point of no return. The migration itself never is.

No export. No recovery. Get it out first.
