What you are seeing

Views seem to be sent (no errors anywhere) but nothing lands in the property you are looking at.

#Why it happens

A valid-looking G- ID that belongs to a different or non-existent property. Google accepts the events without complaint, so both the browser and the server report success while the data goes nowhere you can see.

#What to do

Connect Google, pick the GA4 property, and select the Measurement ID from its data stream rather than typing it, so the ID and the property you report on cannot drift apart.

What it does

Measurement ID

Settings > Apps > Google Analytics > View tracking

The GA4 tag ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX). This is the single required setting: nothing is collected anywhere until it is set.

Measurement Protocol API secret

Settings > Apps > Google Analytics > Enhanced tracking

Unlocks the server-side events: search, comments, and page create/update. Not needed for page views.

Capable analytics integration

Capable Sites > the site > Settings > Integrations

Turns on tracking of the published static site, tagged with the Confluence space, page id, type and version so published views join up with in-Confluence views.
