Space-scoped reports
The same reports narrowed to one space, opened from that space's sidebar.
#How it works
The space page reuses the global reports and filters by the space you are in. There is nothing to configure per space. The Spaces and Searches tabs are hidden here because they are site-wide.
#What it needs
Same as reports.
#Where you do it
Task | Where |
|---|---|
Pick the GA4 property | Connect Google panel > GA4 property |
Sync the custom dimensions | Enhanced tracking panel > Custom dimensions (GA4) > Sync dimensions |
Restrict who can read the reports | Reporting panel > Allowed groups > Add groups |
#Settings that affect this
Setting | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
GA4 property | Settings > Apps > Google Analytics > Connect Google | Which GA4 property the in-Confluence reports read from. Also scopes the data stream, API secret and custom dimension controls. |
Custom dimensions (GA4) - Sync / Refresh | Settings > Apps > Google Analytics > Enhanced tracking | Creates the app's 14 custom dimensions in your GA4 property. Five are required (space key, hashed account id, content id, content type, content version) and back the core reports; nine are optional and each unlocks a rep |
Allowed groups | Settings > Apps > Google Analytics > Reporting | Restricts who can OPEN the analytics reports, including the macro's data. |
#Worth knowing
Reports go empty rather than erroring when no GA4 property is selected, which looks exactly like a data-lag problem.
Data leaves your tenant to two places. To Google: page URL, path and title, space key, page id, type and version, a hashed account id (or "anonymous"), and search terms. To Capable's cloud: your Atlassian cloud id on each cold tracker load, the measurement ID plus licence status, your Google connection tokens, and every report query (including hashed account filters), which is proxied through Capa
The custom dimension sync uses 14 of GA4's 50 event-scoped custom dimension slots. A property already near the limit will see individual creates fail.
GA4 takes up to 48 hours to surface new events and newly created dimensions. Empty reports right after setup are expected, not a misconfiguration.
There are no space-level settings. The space reports page is a view only; everything is configured once for the whole site.
