Show a live Confluence search on a page

To show a live Confluence search on a page, save the search in Capable Search, then edit the page and insert the Search table or Search cards macro. Set Search Mode to saved and pick your search under Saved search. The page then shows the current results whenever someone opens it.

#Before you start

You need

Why

Capable Search installed

The app is part of Capable Search for Confluence and the Capable Suite.

A saved search

See Save a Confluence search as a report. You can also give the macro its own query instead.

Edit permission on the page

You add the macro in the editor.

#Steps

  1. Save the search you want to show in Capable Search.

  2. Open the Confluence page and select Edit.

  3. Type / and search for Search table or Search cards, then insert it. It is listed with (Capable) after its name.

  4. In the macro settings, set Search Mode to saved and pick your search under Saved search.

  5. Set Page Size (5 to 25 rows per page) and, for the table, change the columns if you need different ones from the saved search.

  6. Publish the page.

#What happens next

The macro shows the search's results live, so the page stays current without anyone editing it. If you change the saved search, every page that uses it changes too. Readers only see pages they are allowed to open, and the macros also work for unlicensed and anonymous readers.
