Search cards macro

Cards suit a landing page where a table would look like a report. Same saved search, same visibility rules, different presentation.

Use it where the result set is small and the point is to invite a click.

Setting

What it changes

Search cards (Capable) / Search cards macro (Capable)

Renders a saved search as cards. Same visibility rules as the table macro.

Page Size

Sets how many results the macro requests from Confluence. On the table this is the rows-per-page. On the cards it is only the fetch size, cards always show 12 per page client-side.

Background

Card fill. When set, the card's text colour is auto-derived from the fill's luminance (near-black on light fills, near-white on dark) unless you set Text explicitly.

Text

Card text colour. It is honoured only while it keeps at least 3:1 contrast against whatever surface the card actually sits on; below that the macro silently falls back to a luminance-derived colour (o

Accent

Draws a 3px left accent bar on every card.

Corner radius

Card corner rounding; also rounds the top of the cover image.

Gap

Gutter between cards in the responsive grid (1 / 2 / 3 / 4 columns by breakpoint).

Shadow

Card drop-shadow depth. Cards always brighten to a large shadow on hover regardless of this setting.

Border

When off the card keeps its default 1px theme border. When on, the configured width and colour replace it entirely.

Show excerpt

Adds a 3-line clamped text preview under the card title, built by stripping HTML from Confluence's own search excerpt.

When

Table

Many results, and the columns carry the meaning

Cards

Few results, and the point is to get somebody to open one

#A few things worth knowing

  • Cards show fewer fields than a table by nature. Choose the saved search accordingly.

  • Both macros render for anonymous readers.

  • The two macros can point at the same saved search.

Same search. Different shape.
