Connect your GitHub account to Confluence
To connect your GitHub account to Confluence, select Connect GitHub on any Github file macro, or Connect in the Browse Git Repositories window, and authorise the app in the GitHub window that opens. Each person connects their own account. There is no site-wide connection, so you only ever see repositories you can already open on GitHub.
#Before you start
Who | What they need |
|---|---|
Anyone signed in to Confluence | A GitHub account. No Confluence or GitHub admin rights are needed. |
Organisations with OAuth app restrictions | A GitHub organisation owner may need to approve the app before its private repositories appear. |
#Steps
Open any page with a Github file macro, or add one: edit a page, type /Github and choose Github file (Capable).
Select Connect GitHub on the macro, or select Select File and then Connect under Connect to Git Providers.
In the GitHub window, check the account shown and select Authorize.
Wait for the window to close. The macro loads the file, or the picker lists your repositories.
#What happens next
Capable asks GitHub for repo, user:email, read:org and read:user. It only reads; it never writes to your repositories. Private files you can read now render for you. Other readers still need their own connection.
GitHub asks you to approve the app every time you connect, even if you have connected before. That is deliberate. See Consent behaviour.
If you do not finish in GitHub within 30 seconds, Capable stops waiting. Start again.
#If it does not work
Macro says none of my accounts have access, but I am certain I do
Admin wants to connect GitHub once on behalf of the whole site
